The Globe and Mail noted that McGreevy was out. He had resigned over an affair with " a fellow whom Mr. McGreevey hired in 2002 first as a counterterrorism adviser and then, after a fuss over the man's qualifications... resigned."
The fuss was that the Homeland Security advisor was hired at $110,000 a year, had no experience except as a "published poet" and PR flack, was not an American citizen and so couldn't get a secret clearance or even access to confidential information, the FBI and Homeland Security would not deal with him, and New Jersey is on a high priority target list.
